Invocation of Blessing

To rise with a willing heart
and a ready hand,
to understand that choice
always gives birth to consequence,

to bend together prayer and caring,
to know that knowing
is often wasted without doing,
and that compassion
depends upon seeing through
the mist of circumstance,

to sing with meaning
and speak with love
that rises above pettiness,

to forgive fervently
and adore all that is pure and good,
to walk quietly in the midst of turmoil
and to keep one’s heart
unfettered by bitterness,
to have clearness
of vision, mind and purpose:

this is what I pray
for you
today.
